Yelena Voronina: "Holding the ENOG conference in Kazan has helped increase the number of participants."
The conference has been organized by RIPE NCC and MSK-IX in partnership with the Technical Center of Internet. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications of Tatarstan Timur Zaripov welcomed conference participants. He said that one of the most significant IT industry events in 2014 was the launch of Russia's first regional top-level domain .TATAR.
Mr Zaripov noted that Tatarstan is a recognized leader in the implementation of information technology (IT) in Russia and suggested holding the next ENOG conference at the newly built innovation center and town Innopolis. On June 9, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev attended the town's inauguration ceremony.
Speaking at the ENOG conference opening ceremony, MSK-IX General Director Yelena Voronina thanked the organizing committee for supporting the company's initiative to hold the ENOG conference in Kazan. "This has provided IT professionals with additional opportunities to share their experiences," Ms Voronina said. "A few years ago, MSK-IX opened a communications center in Kazan, which includes equipment for the Internet traffic exchange and Russian .RU and .RF domain support.
The new .TATAR domain is also supported by the center. This center is very important to us, and we are always happy to visit Kazan and meet our partners. And I very much hope that the ENOG conferences will continue to be held in various regions of Russia."
As part of the ENOG 9 conference, a roundtable discussion "The Many Faces of Distributed Peering and the Russian IXP Ecosystem" will be held on June 10. The event will be moderated by MSK-IX General Director Yelena Voronina.
