Mediabaza: a content marketplace with an emphasis on AI

At the TeleMultiMedia Forum 2025 held in Moscow, MSK-IX presented an extensive plan for the Mediabaza platform development. Grigory Kuzin, Director of the Medialogistika project, spoke about Mediabaza being transformed into a fully operational B2B marketplace of TV channels, content and media services, with AI technologies to play a key role.

In his remarks, Director of MSK-IX’s Medialogistika Grigory Kuzin highlighted Mediabaza’s strategic importance for the market, adding that the project is already transforming the industry.

Mediabaza was created to ensure maximum flexibility for market players, being essentially a B2B marketplace that provides any operator with the opportunity to order any TV channel from any available source, without imposing any specific one.

“This approach aligns with contemporary trends, where operators increasingly favor hybrid content delivery models. The Medialogistika and Mediabaza projects are centered around such hybrid delivery; we hav

e managed to enter this evolutionary and historic phase of the industry with impeccable timing,” Grigory Kuzin said.

The bulk of the report was focused on the efforts to incorporate AI technologies into the Mediabaza services. In particular, Mr. Kuzin noted that the company actively employs AI to automatically generate subtitles. Unlike basic speech-to-text solutions, the system – which was developed in partnership with Inventos – is capable of forming structured semantic blocks and filtering out background noise. Traditional subtitles often appear as undivided text, which can be inconvenient and visually unappealing. The technology incorporated into Mediabaza generates subtitles that are neatly segmented into semantic units, enhancing both readability and viewer experience.

Translating content using artificial intelligence is another promising area. According to Medialogistika’s director, AI can reduce translation costs tenfold. However, for high-quality artistic content, human involvement remains advisable during the editing and dubbing.

A key announcement that captured the audience’s attention was the forthcoming launch of an AI-powered video analytics service.

“We pay particular attention to embedding security measures directly within the content. In order to do this, we use a solution capable of identifying prohibited elements in videos. This tool is designed to comprehensively review materials to ensure compliance with current legislation, including detection of banned symbols, references to foreign agents, and automatic assignment of age ratings. It would shield our partners from potential fines and, in some cases, from criminal liability. With regulatory authorities increasingly turning to AI for content monitoring, our technology effectively levels the playing field for all parties,” Grigory Kuzin emphasized.

In the future, MSK-IX plans to expand the AI capabilities of the Mediabaza platform, notably through developing an intelligent assistant that will allow users to make free-form queries.

In conclusion, Mr. Kuzin underlined that the platform is open to external developers. The recently introduced Services section within Mediabaza enables AI solution providers to independently publish and promote their solutions under their own names.
