Yulia Goncharova, Head of Telecommunications Operator Relations for the Medialogistika project, delivered a presentation on the advantages of terrestrial TV signal delivery over satellite transmission, as well as the additional opportunities Medialogistika offers regional operators.

Yulia Goncharova began her presentation with an analysis of the challenges faced by operators relying on satellite reception. “Satellite reception is less stable because signal quality is affected by weather conditions – wind, rain, and snow. Additionally, in mountainous regions, signal reception can be problematic,” she noted. “Another critical issue is the lack of a service-level agreement (SLA). If the signal drops due to bad weather, you cannot file a complaint because there is no contract guaranteeing stability.” In contrast, terrestrial delivery ensures predictability and reliability, as it is governed by a contract that allows operators to raise concerns and receive quality guarantees.

Medialogistika offers flexible connection options tailored to different operator needs. For those seeking maximum simplicity, there is a “lazy mode”.

“We deliver and install our SRT receiver. You simply connect it to the internet and receive a standard multicast stream at the output. You don’t have to worry about setting up a communication channel or technical complexities. Meanwhile, we conduct continuous monitoring to ensure signal quality, even when transmitted over an inherently unreliable medium like the internet,” explained Yulia Goncharova.

Special attention was given to content distribution and the new Mediabaza project. This platform essentially functions as a marketplace connecting broadcasters and operators. Mediabaza enables operators to interact directly with rights holders, select desired TV channels, and even preview demo versions.

According to Yulia Goncharova, this tool has significantly streamlined the broadcast rights negotiation process: “Now, all permissions are exchanged with broadcasters through Mediabaza. It’s convenient for all parties: the broadcaster immediately sees which operator is requesting the signal, and the operator receives a notification as soon as they are granted access to the stream.”

Currently, Mediabaza features an extensive catalog of TV channels, as well as content and technical services such as video analytics and AI-powered subtitle generation. This approach reflects MSK-IX’s commitment to providing operators with comprehensive solutions that encompass not just delivery but also content management.

The Baikal Conference of Telecom Operators, held from August 24 to 27, 2025, has established itself as a key industry event for the telecom sector. The conference aims to bring together operators, manufacturers, and integrators in one of Russia’s most scenic locations. The BKOS was organized by Praktika Prodazh, Operator School, Baikal Telecom, and Baikal-IX.
