Peering Forum 2025: A double anniversary and a new growth strategy

The 2025 MSK-IX Peering Forum, held on November 17 at the WTC Congress Center in Moscow, was a landmark event for the Russian internet industry. Coinciding with MSK-IX’s 30th anniversary and the Forum’s 20th, the event solidified its status as the country’s premier “intellectual hub,” bringing together 860 leaders from telecom, media, and technology companies.

The business program featured two parallel tracks: Infrastructure and Network Services and Video Streaming. Experts on the first track discussed three interconnected megatrends: smart infrastructure (AI-based automation), cyber resilience (a system’s ability to operate during an attack), and hybrid media architectures.
The Video Stream track focused on the digital transformation of the media industry, cross-platform monetization for television channels, and new strategies and formats for producing and promoting video content.
The Peering Forum is more than just an event; it’s a catalyst for tangible change. It was from discussions at a previous forum that Anycast DNS technology was born – now an industry standard that provides high resistance to DDoS attacks.
Attendees at the 20th forum actively used a dedicated mobile app for networking, voting for the best presentations, and exchanging contacts.

“This anniversary marks the journey from technological pioneering to becoming an architect of the country’s digital ecosystem. The forum has been completely transformed: from a highly specialized engineering meeting, it has evolved into a strategic platform where the future of the entire digital industry is being shaped. This is confirmed not only by the growing number of partners and media coverage but also by an unprecedented level of market trust,” said Alexei Kostin, head of the organizing committee.

“The anniversary Peering Forum once again demonstrated that the key asset of the Russian internet industry is not just technology, but also the trust within our professional community. It is this trust that allows competitors to sit down at the same table, share experiences, and work together to build the architecture of the country’s digital sovereignty. We thank all the partners, experts, and attendees, whose active participation makes this event a key milestone for the Russian telecom community,” commented Yevgeny Morozov, CEO of MSK-IX.

The Peering Forum will continue to evolve, becoming a “digital twin” of the industry – a permanent online platform where collaboration and trend discussions continue long after the event concludes.
As in previous years, the forum’s significance is underscored by impressive statistics.
