MSK-IX brings together telecom industry leaders at Digital Olympus

MSK-IX hosted a meeting of its private club, Digital Olympus, in St. Petersburg, combining its traditional evening cocktail reception with an expanded business program. The event brought together more than 210 executives and technical directors from telecom operators, data centers, cloud providers, and media companies at the K-2 Government Residence.

In 2026, the organizers broadened the format: the traditional evening cocktail reception was preceded by an expert panel discussion.

The business program opened with an analytical presentation by Alexei Leontyev, Director of the Association of Telecommunications Operators, who provided a detailed overview of the Russian B2O market and examined the role of small and medium-sized operators within the country’s telecommunications landscape.

This was followed by an active panel discussion featuring senior executives from leading telecom companies in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Experts openly discussed some of the industry’s most pressing issues, including practical approaches to import substitution, methods of protecting networks against large-scale DDoS attacks, and other challenges facing regional telecom providers. A key conclusion of the discussion was the need for closer cooperation among telecom market participants at both the regional and federal levels, as well as the systematic adjustment of pricing policies to reflect rising infrastructure costs. At the same time, high-quality internet access remains the primary driver of industry growth and profitability.

MSK-IX Director General Yevgeny Morozov emphasized the importance of open professional dialogue in a club setting:

“The telecom market is undergoing significant transformation today, and the value of such meetings lies in the opportunity to compare experiences and approaches with colleagues. Protecting network infrastructure is a constant arms race, and we strive to respond quickly to market demands. During the event, we announced the launch of a new DDoS protection service directly at the traffic exchange point. Infrastructure solutions developed and tested within our professional community will help significantly improve the overall connectivity and resilience of the Runet.”

Alexei Kostin, Director of the MSK-IX Product Office, highlighted the success of the new format:

“The event for our colleagues from the northwest continues to grow year after year, and the introduction of a business component was the natural next step. The fact that we were able to bring together such a highly engaged audience and hold an in-depth discussion demonstrates that operators today need more than informal networking but to develop joint technological solutions. This motivates us to continue strengthening the regional telecom community and to provide the market with flexible, automated services through a single-window approach.”

During the event, Yelena Voronina, Development Director of the InData Foundation, also presented a new issue of the Internet from Within scientific and technical magazine, dedicated to the topic of network time.

The club’s interactive program continued with an immersive quest entitled Ascent to the Digital Olympus. Together with professional performers, company executives explored ways to overcome technological chaos and build resilient systems within a game-based scenario. The evening then transitioned into the traditional cocktail reception and a networking session.

The following companies partnered with the MSK-IX Private Club event:
Module, Nubes, Effort Telecom, Neoros, RDP Enterprise, Data Center Expert, Content Plus LLC, Comfortel, EcoRouter, Medialogistika, and Mediabaza.
