MSK-IX strengthens domain zone infrastructure
MSK-IX continues to focus on expanding critical services and ensuring their backup as part of its infrastructure development efforts. The company has recently completed the rollout of its sixth DNS cloud within the .RU zone and launched seven new nodes, four of them in the country’s key locations: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and Vladivostok. MSK-IX’s distributed network currently consists of 29 nodes across 21 cities around the world, which ensures complete and full availability of IP addressing services as per ICANN standards.
Apart from widening its geographic reach, the company made a massive effort to upgrade its Data Escrow and EBERO backup systems by improving their security and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
In his presentation, Yevgeny Morozov placed a special emphasis on analytical and research initiatives, noting that MSK-IX remained involved in the Netoscope project, which consists of exchanging data on cyberthreats, while also carrying out research on the trends in Cyrillic email address use. Company research has demonstrated that while the overall number of MX queries per domain may be comparable with the .RU zone, so far, the actual use of email services in the .РФ domain has been quite low. That said, MSK-IX is fully prepared, from an infrastructure perspective, to support a wider range of multilingual email addresses.
The company believes that working with the younger generation of engineers can help ensure lasting stability within the digital ecosystem. To that end, MSK-IX partnered with InData to offer internships and research opportunities for students from the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics and Bauman Moscow State Technical University by enabling them to work with real datasets.

The International Conference for ccTLD Registries and Registrars of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (TLDCON) is one of the region’s key industry events, focused on domain sector development, cybersecurity, internet addressing, and regulation. TLDCON 2026, the conference’s 19th edition, took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on September 22–23.
